Reporting Updates

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) set to replace Universal Analytics (UA) on July 1, 2023

Last updated 1 year ago

Overview

At DoctorLogic we use a combination of proprietary and third-party tools to generate performance reporting for your website. One of the important third-party tools used for tracking website visits and engagement is Google Analytics.

In March 2022, and launching an entirely new version. The current Google Analytics tools, used by millions of websites worldwide, is often referred to as Universal Analytics, UA, or GA3. The new version is called Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

In their announcement, Google stated that on July 1, 2023 data collection for Universal Analytics (UA) would no longer be supported. This means website tracking via these tools would stop completely. As such, over the past year they’ve been actively encouraging all users of their UA tools to migrate over to GA4 in advance of this deadline.

Over the past few months DoctorLogic has been working hard behind the scenes to make this transition as smooth as possible for our customers. In fact, we began working on the GA4 transition for our platform just a few weeks after the March 2022 announcement from Google.

While the current version of Google Analytics (UA) has been running on your website since becoming a DoctorLogic customer, our team has also enabled GA4 tracking as well. You’ve actually been collecting data from both UA and GA4 for many months!

What’s changing?

All of your existing DoctorLogic reports, charts, graphs, tables, etc will continue to function as normal until July 1, 2023. In early June you will start to see new versions of these reports, now powered with GA4 data, added into your customer dashboard and running in tandem with the legacy reports.

The new reports will be nearly identical to the legacy reports, with the exception of a few new metrics and visualizations.

On a future date, communicated in advance by our team, DoctorLogic will remove the legacy reports from your customer dashboard, leaving only the new GA4 reports. Since the legacy reports won’t be collecting any new data after July 1, 2023 their usefulness diminishes as time passes.

What’s not changing?

As your trusted digital marketing partner, DoctorLogic will continue to stay ahead of the curve to ensure your website performance and practice growth continue to rise.

Additional reporting enhancements will be introduced in the future but for the near term your most commonly used reports (ex. Overview, Traffic, Pages, etc) will function as you expect. The only difference is that your site is now future-proofed and using the latest and greatest website reporting data from our partnership with Google.
